If you’re curious about 27-28 MHz reception I suggest the following:
1. 390k + 33k in series to get close to the required 422k (though I used 27k and that was also OK). For testing remove the Fav/Var link and wire the 422k across from the centre pin to earth.
2. Add 56k resistor in the earth connection of the tuning control for better bandspread. Required as keeping the whole 18-28 MHz range makes the tuning too touchy. This will give a coverage of approx 26.8 - 28.55 MHz
3. Use of an external signal generator or even Nano VNA as a BFO for SSB/CW reception
4. Use loose coupling to outside antenna to avoid overload from AM broadcasters etc.
